We have been feeding the deer this winter since it has been so terrible for them. This picture was taken this March, 2009 and as you can see this poor buck is in tough shape. Sure hope he makes it. We have some pictures of does that look the same way. Over all the bucks look worse than the does.

Don't get me wrong, I like the does too, because without them we wouldn't have any big bucks. They are a wonder to watch from our house. They play, eat and enjoy life like any animal. They are a beautiful animal that I can spend hours watching. During deer hunting there was this tiny fawn that was eating blackbery bushes just under my tree stand. She would pick up her feet very slowly and look around very cautiously while still eating. She stayed they for over an hour and it was such a pleasure for me just to watch her. Finally when she was done eating she slowly walked away and laid down to rest.

I call this buck Sassy just by the way he looks. It's just as if he doesn't want his picture taken. It is a Wildview hunting camera that I took his picture with. I really like it because I can put a 12 volt battery on it and it lasts a really long time. I was getting tired of changing D batteries all of the time. The worst part is the expense of the batteries. It was driving me broke. When I went to check the cameras they were always dead. If you don't have a card in them than all your pictures are gone. I would have taken this buck if I had the chance but he disappeared during deer hunting. Hope he is still living so I can get him this year. Just love deer hunting. My best time of year.

Our daughter went bow hunting this last year 2008 and got this nice buck. She gets so excited bow hunting. It is a time to relieve her stress from the everyday life. There were some does that came right under her tree stand and it took another half an hour before the buck showed up. He was at a bad angle so she had her bow ready to shoot but he would not move. Her arms started getting sore from staying in position for so long. Finally after 20 minutes he turned and the arrow hit the target. She waited for 20 minutes and started trailing and finally came up her buck. What a great day it was. Her arms were sore for a week for holding her bow so long. She said ,"It was worth it!"

  1. This is the deer I wanted to shoot this year but he was too smart for me. The date in the photo is wrong since I did not set the camera up . Isn't this a great deer? Hope he is still around for next year because he will be BIGGER. Love deer hunting. How about you?

Do you love deer hunting?

I'm a women and I just love deer hunting. Love to shoot those big bucks. This year they were scarce. I just love to be in the woods to watch the wildlife and listen to the peace and quiet. I should not say quiet because every once in a while a squirrel will start chattering and scare the heck out of you thinking it is that big BUCK approaching. It gets quiet again and all of a sudden a turkey flys by almost scaring you out of your tree stand. You see a group of does approaching and you are waiting anxiously for the buck to follow but no luck this time. Hours pass and no more deer today. Got to get up early and start the process over again and loving every minute of it.
